A blonde was terribly overweight, so her doctor put her on a strict new diet.
“I want you to eat regularly for two days,” he explained, “then skip a day. Repeat this procedure for two weeks.
When you come back to me, you’ll have lost at least five pounds.”
Two weeks later, the blonde returned to his office—and the doctor nearly fell off his chair. She had dropped almost twenty pounds.
“Why, that’s incredible!” he said, eyes wide with surprise. “Did you follow my instructions exactly?”
The blonde nodded eagerly. “Oh yes, every word.”
The doctor smiled. “Well, you’ve done wonderfully. But tell me—wasn’t it hard on you, skipping meals every third day?”
The blonde blinked, then shook her head dramatically. “Meals? Oh no, the eating part was fine. But I thought I was going to drop dead that third day…”
The doctor frowned, puzzled. “From hunger, you mean?”
She threw up her hands and sighed.
“No, from skipping!”
