William, Kate face major challenge as King Charles takes decisive step

King Charles Grants New Royal Warrant — But William and Kate Must Wait for Their Turn

King Charles has upheld a longstanding royal tradition by granting a new royal warrant — a significant step that brings Prince William and Kate Middleton closer to receiving their long-anticipated honours, though not just yet.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were expected to be granted the authority to issue royal warrants — a privilege typically reserved for senior royals — but plans were unexpectedly paused.

Royal warrants are prestigious endorsements awarded to individuals or companies that have consistently provided goods or services to the royal household.

This week, it was announced that Charles had granted a royal warrant to Gaziano & Girling, a renowned shoemaker based in Northamptonshire. The company crafted the shoes worn by the King at his 2023 Coronation. Charles had previously visited their factory in Kettering in 2019.

The development sheds light on the delay in extending warrant-granting authority to William and Kate. According to royal author Robert Jobson, “there’s always a bit of a delay” in such matters. He explained that the Palace is focused on allowing King Charles and Queen Camilla to fully manage their own royal warrants first — a process that has taken time due to rigorous assessments.

Jobson noted that while William and Kate will eventually receive the honour, patience is required as they await their place in the royal tradition.
