Tracy Summerfield noticed a small spot in her nostril in 2015 but didn’t think much of it. When it grew and spread to her upper lip by 2018, she sought medical help and was diagnosed with skin cancer. The tumor required surgery, which would likely leave her face disfigured.
Shocked but determined, Tracy told her partner Colin and proposed to him. They decided to marry during their planned trip to Barbados. After surgery, she struggled with her scars and self-image, despite Colin’s unwavering support.
A second surgery helped reconstruct her face, but she still felt unrecognizable. With help from a cancer charity, she learned makeup techniques to conceal her scars, restoring her confidence before the wedding.
On her wedding day, Tracy felt beautiful as she walked down the aisle. Though her scars remain, she now calls them her “warrior scars,” a symbol of her strength and survival.
