An old couple had been married for over 50 years.
One evening, as they sat quietly after dinner, the old lady looked at her husband and said,
“Tell me honestly… have you ever cheated on me?”
The old man sighed, shifted in his chair, and said,
“Well… since you’re asking… yes. Three times.”
The old lady’s eyes widened. “THREE times?! When?!”
He cleared his throat.
“First time… remember when I was really sick and we couldn’t afford the hospital bills? You went to the doctor… and somehow convinced him to treat me for free.”
She gasped. “You mean… you… and the doctor?!”
He nodded slowly. “Yes.”
She sat in silence for a moment… then softened.
“Well… you were dying. I guess I can understand that…”
“And the second time?” she asked.
He continued,
“Remember when I wanted that promotion at work? You went to my boss… and after that, I got promoted the very next day.”
Her jaw dropped.
“You mean… with your boss too?!”
He nodded again.
She sighed deeply. “I don’t like it… but it did help our life…”
Then she narrowed her eyes and asked,
“…and the third time?”
The old man leaned closer and said quietly:
“Remember when I ran for president of the retirement community… and I needed 73 votes?”😄
