Without saying a word, she walked straight toward me and pressed a sanitary pad into my hand. \u201cYou need this,\u201d she said softly but urgently, her tone slicing through the laughter like a knife.<\/p>\n
I blinked at her, confused. \u201cI\u2019m\u2026 sorry? I don\u2019t\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
But before I could finish, she gave me a brief, meaningful look and walked away briskly, disappearing into the weekend crowd.<\/p>\n
