Actor Ray Liotta\u2019s death last year was due to cardiovascular disease, an autopsy revealed.<\/p>\n

One year after the \u201cGoodfellas\u201d actor died in his sleep while filming the movie \u201cDangerous Waters,\u201d in the Dominican Republic, officials on Monday confirmed the 67-year-old died as a result of atherosclerotic disease, which is the build-up of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls.<\/p>\n

Officials cited pulmonary edema, a condition caused by too much fluid in the lungs, and heart and respiratory failure as contributing to his death.<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s publicist Jennifer Allen confirmed to CBS News that Liotta died in his sleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cJudging by the post-mortem signs, at the time the body was removed and the autopsy was performed on May 26, 2022, at 03:22 p.m., death could have occurred approximately 8-10 hours earlier,\u201d Dominican officials said.<\/p>\n

Liotta is best known for playing the role of Henry Hill in the classic 1990 Martin Scorsese mob film \u201cGoodfellas,\u201d starring alongside Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.<\/p>\n

More recently, Liotta starred in several major motion picture projects, including \u201cMarriage Story,\u201d \u201cKilling Them Softly,\u201d \u201cThe Place Beyond the Pines\u201d and \u201cThe Many Saints of Newark,\u201d a \u201cSopranos\u201d prequel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
