Moved by her talent, he was brought to tears. \u201cWhile I was singing, he started to cry,\u201d Celine recalled. Their professional relationship blossomed into romance when she turned 19, though they kept it private. Celine finally declared her love in her album The Colour of My Love: \u201cIt was like bang! Love! Love always wins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Fairytale Wedding in Montreal<br \/>\n<\/strong>Ren\u00e9 proposed in 1991, and they wed in December 1994 at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal. Celine, then 26, stunned in a Mirella and Steve Gentile silk gown with a 20-foot train and a Swarovski crystal tiara. \u201cI\u2019m not surprised we married each other,\u201d she said later. \u201cWe have the same dreams. We have the same goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2000, they renewed their vows in a grand Orthodox ceremony at Caesars Palace, with Celine donning a golden gown. \u201cIt\u2019s almost like a show, and we\u2019re show business people,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Battling Cancer Together<br \/>\n<\/strong>Their love was tested when Ren\u00e9 was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999. Celine paused her career to care for him. Though he recovered in 2000, the disease returned in 2013. After a terminal diagnosis in 2014, he passed away on January 14, 2016, at age 73. \u201cFor me especially, and my children, to see the man of my life die a little bit more every day\u2026 when he stopped suffering, I said to myself, he\u2019s okay. And he deserves not to suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celine and Ren\u00e9\u2019s children<br \/>\n<\/strong>The couple had three children: Ren\u00e9-Charles and twins Nelson and Eddy. Their road to parenthood wasn\u2019t easy\u2014Celine underwent fertility treatments and multiple IVF attempts before welcoming their sons. \u201cYou know, I\u2019m not really a singer. My life is to be a mom,\u201d she told People. \u201cIt is my most amazing reward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Everlasting Love<br \/>\n<\/strong>Since Ren\u00e9\u2019s passing, Celine has focused on her children and career. \u201cI think I will probably grieve for the rest of my life,\u201d she admitted. \u201cI miss him a lot.\u201d Producer David Foster described their relationship as \u201cone of the greatest love stories ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Celine has maintained that she was not ready to start another relationship, telling the Today show in 2019: \u201cI don\u2019t date. I\u2019m not ready to date. I\u2019m very lucky and happy to have so many people in my surroundings to make me \u2014 they make me laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, Celine added that she had \u201cno idea\u201d when she might be ready. \u201cRight this second, love is so big right now in my life, with my kids, with life itself, I\u2019m not thinking about a relationship and falling in love again. Do I have to say that it will never happen anymore? I don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her beloved Rene, she reiterated, is still very much a part of family life. \u201cI see my kids. I look at them \u2014 we live with him,\u201d she mused. \u201cWe still live with him.
