McCrory played Aunt Polly Gray in \u201cPeaky Blinders\u201d between 2013-2019, and she also starred as Narcissa Malfoy, Draco Malfoy\u2019s mother, in the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d franchise, appearing in three films in the series.<\/p>\n
Some of her other credits include \u201cThe Queen,\u201d \u201cFantastic Mr. Fox,\u201d \u201cHugo,\u201d \u201cSkyfall\u201d and on TV the series \u201cFearless,\u201d \u201cQuiz,\u201d \u201cRoadkill\u201d and most recently \u201cHis Dark Materials.\u201d<\/p>\n
Helen McCrory got her start in theater, winning a prize for playing the lead in the 1993 production \u201cTrelawny of the \u2018Wells\u2019\u201d at the Royal National Theatre in London. Some of her other theatrical roles included a part as Rosalind in a production of \u201cAs You Like It,\u201d \u201cMedea\u201d and Isben\u2019s \u201cRosmersholm.\u201d<\/p>\n
Around the time she started her acting career, she also landed a bit part in \u201cInterview With a Vampire\u201d and would appear in films such as \u201cThe Count of Monte Cristo,\u201d \u201cCasanova\u201d and \u201cThe Queen.\u201d In \u201cThe Queen\u201d she portrayed Cherie Blair, and she would later reprise that part for Peter Morgan\u2019s follow-up \u201cThe Special Relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though she would eventually play Narcissa Malfoy, McCrory was originally cast as Bellatrix Lestrange in \u201cHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,\u201d a part that eventually went to Helena Bonham Carter, but she was forced to drop out of the film due to her pregnancy and would eventually join the franchise for the sixth film \u201cThe Half-Blood Prince.\u201d<\/p>\n
McCrory won a Wales BAFTA Award for her work in the 1995 film \u201cStreetlife,\u201d and she\u2019s been nominated for a Critics Choice TV Award for \u201cPenny Dreadful,\u201d a London Critics Circle Award for \u201cThe Queen\u201d and the National Film Awards, UK for \u201cPeaky Blinders.\u201d<\/p>\n
