The Family Fare grocery store at 17158 Highway J on Lake Wissota will permanently shut down in March, as announced by the company.<\/p>\n
SpartanNash, the store’s operator, notified the Department of Workforce Development about the closure through a letter this week, stating that 45 jobs will be eliminated.<\/p>\n
\u201cAffected employees are expected to have their employment terminated starting March 16, 2025, with separations potentially continuing through March 27, 2025,\u201d the letter stated.<\/p>\n
The employees affected by the closure are not represented by a union, and no bumping rights apply. Of the 45 employees, two are salaried, and 43 are hourly workers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis announcement and the outlined schedule are based on the best available information. However, various factors may influence these plans and the timing of employee separations. Any updates or changes will be communicated,\u201d the letter added.<\/p>\n
A Festival Foods store opened in October 2023 at 1109 Chippewa Crossing Boulevard, approximately an eight-minute drive from the Family Fare location slated for closure.<\/p>\n
Previously, Family Fare was one of 26 Gordy\u2019s Market locations. Between 2017 and 2019, many Gordy\u2019s Market stores were either closed or acquired. In March 2019, SpartanNash\u2019s parent company, Nash Finch, purchased five of the remaining Gordy\u2019s locations at an auction for $15.1 million, rebranding them as Family Fare Supermarkets.<\/p>\n
