Rory Callum Sykes, known for his role in the 1990s UK television series “Kiddy Kapers,” lost his life at his family\u2019s Malibu home on Wednesday, according to a heartfelt social media post shared by his mother, Shelley Sykes.<\/div>\n

The British-born Australian actor, who was born blind and lived with cerebral palsy, had been residing in a private cottage on the family’s 17-acre Mount Malibu TV Studio estate. The property was completely destroyed by the wildfire.<\/p>\n

Shelley recounted the harrowing moments leading up to her son’s death. She explained that she attempted to extinguish embers on his cottage roof using a garden hose, but her efforts were futile due to the water supply being cut off. \u201cFifty brave firefighters had no water all day,\u201d she lamented.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

In a heartbreaking interview with Australia’s 10 News, Shelley shared her son\u2019s final words: \u201cHe said, \u2018Mum, leave me,\u2019 but no mother could abandon their child. I\u2019ve got a broken arm; I couldn\u2019t lift him or move him.\u201d She continued, \u201cWhen the fire department brought me back, his cottage had been reduced to ashes.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of Saturday morning, officials confirmed at least 11 fatalities across the various wildfires raging through Los Angeles.
