Everything I had so carefully built over the years had crumbled in an instant: my job, my friends, and most painfully, the man I loved. They had laughed behind my back, and I noticed nothing.<\/p>\n

My mind couldn\u2019t cope with that kind of betrayal. A dark and terrifying divorce process loomed, like a thundercloud ready to burst. All my savings\u2014meant for our future\u2014would now dissolve into lawyers\u2019 fees, court hearings, and endless bitterness.<\/p>\n

When my lawyer called, his voice crisp and practical, I felt like he was speaking in another language. Finally, I cut him off:
