After the end of my marriage, I had to put my broken life back together. Then, my friend Lana sent me an email asking me to a creative retreat on a lovely island. It looked like a fresh start and a chance to focus on my work, which I couldn\u2019t refuse.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-8\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1625716\" data-uid=\"03f9c\">\n<div id=\"mgw1625716_03f9c\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\"><\/div>\n<p>I was pulled to Eric right away when I got to the island. He was a charming fellow writer who was 15 years younger than me. We became friends because we both loved books, and I fell in love with his sweet smile and kind heart. But I had no idea that our chance meeting was not as lucky as it seemed.<\/p>\n<p>I thought Eric was too perfect and too charming as I got to know him better. After that, I found a shocking truth. Eric and Lana planned to steal my draft, which was a book I had worked on for a long time. It made me angry, let down, and deceived.<\/p>\n<p>But when I talked to Eric about it, I found out that Lana had been using him because she was jealous of how good I was at writing. Eric knew what he did wrong and tried to make things right. I wanted to forgive but was also angry at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>After several months, I finally put out my book, and it was a big hit. The note from Eric came to me while I was signing books for my fans at a bookshop. He wanted to talk to me, say sorry, and explain. I wasn\u2019t sure at first, but something about what he said struck a chord with me.<\/p>\n<p>I saw a different side of Eric when we met at a caf\u00e9. He was honest, truthful, and sorry for what he did. I changed how I saw him, and our talk went better after that.
