Breastfeeding \u2013 I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll agree \u2013 is a perfectly natural act undertaken by a loving mother to feed her hungry babies. It\u2019s quite literally a marvel of biology, turning moms into a food machine to ensure the survival of her hungry children.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And yet \u2013 I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll also agree \u2013 there comes a time and age where breastfeeding is not only no longer needed, but becomes inappropriate. Now, before we go any further, I\u2019ll stress that for the most part, mothers and fathers should always have the final say on things relating to their kids.<\/p>\n

But that doesn\u2019t mean that there aren\u2019t cases wherein they\u2019d be better off listening to the general consensus and maybe not wandering too far from the path best tread.<\/p>\n

One mother from Perth, Australia caused a stir earlier this year after revealing that she breastfed her son all the way up until he was six years old, while she continues to nurse her daughter, 4.<\/p>\n

Lauren McLeod, 31, is mother to seven-year-old Bowie and four-year-old Tigerlily, and her approach to\u00a0breastfeeding<\/a>\u00a0her children is certainly unconventional.<\/p>\n

Yet Lauren is not only prepared to champion her decision, but she\u2019s also ready to take the fight to the naysayers who believe she should stop.<\/p>\n

As per\u00a0the New York Post<\/a>, Lauren said she hadn\u2019t planned on breastfeeding for so long when she first began. \u201cI\u2019m just like any other mom doing the best for my children,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, meanwhile, the mom claimed to have had a \u201c\u2018bye bye boobie\u201d party for Bowie when he was six.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted one last feed with him and made a cake saying \u2018bye bye boobies\u2019. It was the end of an era, and it was very emotional, but we both knew it was time. I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if Tigerlily also went on until she was six like her brother, but I will follow her lead,\u201d Lauren said.<\/p>\n

In 2023, meanwhile, she hit back at those criticizing her for drinking while actively breastfeeding. As per the\u00a0New York Post<\/a>, the mom-of-two, who has gained a steady following online, said: \u201cI think there is definitely misinformation about drinking while breastfeeding.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMany people probably assume that alcohol goes straight into breastmilk and will make the baby \u2018drunk\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cOr they assume that a breastfeeding parent is going to get blind drunk and harm their child, which usually is absolutely not the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have definitely seen quite a few comments in parent-related groups on Facebook saying negative things about drinking while breastfeeding, which all have quite clearly come from a lack of education.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
