Frank G. Mancuso Sr., Hollywood Leader Behind Paramount\u2019s Blockbuster Era, Dies at 93<\/strong><\/p>\n

Frank G. Mancuso Sr., the veteran Hollywood executive who rose from working in a movie theater to leading Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, has died at 93.<\/p>\n

Mancuso died on October 1, 2026, at his home in Los Angeles from complications of cancer, according to a family spokesperson. His career encompassed sales, marketing, distribution and the leadership of two major film studios. (thewrap.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n

From Theater Usher to Studio Chief<\/strong><\/p>\n

Born on July 25, 1933, in Buffalo, New York, Mancuso began his working life as a teenage usher at the Lafayette Theater. He later took on responsibilities involving theater operations and programming.<\/p>\n

He joined Paramount\u2019s Buffalo office in 1962 and advanced through the company over the following decades. His experience selling and promoting films became the foundation of a career that eventually took him to Hollywood\u2019s executive offices. (thewrap.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n

A Successful Chapter at Paramount<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mancuso served as Paramount Pictures\u2019 chairman and chief executive officer from 1984 to 1991. During his leadership, the studio released major commercial successes including Top Gun<\/em>, Fatal Attraction<\/em>, The Untouchables<\/em>, Coming to America<\/em> and Ghost<\/em>. Mancuso took over MGM in 1993 and remained at its helm until 1999. He helped rebuild the company\u2019s film and television operations during a period of expansion.<\/p>\n
