Raffaele Annecchino Dies at 55: Former Paramount International Chief Remembered as a Global Media Visionary<\/strong><\/p>\n

Raffaele Annecchino, the influential Italian media executive who previously served as president and CEO of Paramount International, has died at the age of 55.<\/p>\n

Annecchino died suddenly from acute meningitis while vacationing in Spain\u2019s Balearic Islands, according to his personal office. His unexpected death has prompted tributes from colleagues and media professionals around the world.<\/p>\n

A Leading Figure in International Entertainment<\/strong><\/p>\n

During a career spanning more than 25 years at Paramount and its predecessor companies, Annecchino became one of the most respected executives in the international television and entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

He joined MTV Networks International in Madrid in 1997, initially working on the commercial side of the business. Through years of leadership and strategic expansion, he eventually rose to oversee operations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.<\/p>\n

Before joining MTV Networks, Annecchino held positions at Turner International, Cartoon Network and CNN.<\/p>\n

In December 2020, he was appointed president and CEO of ViacomCBS Networks International, giving him responsibility for the company\u2019s media networks and related businesses outside the United States.<\/p>\n

His portfolio included major entertainment brands and broadcasting businesses such as MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, Britain\u2019s Channel 5, Australia\u2019s Network 10, Argentina\u2019s Telefe and Chilevisi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Driving Paramount\u2019s Streaming Expansion<\/strong><\/p>\n

Annecchino played an important role in guiding Paramount through the entertainment industry\u2019s transition from traditional television to digital streaming.<\/p>\n

He helped lead the international rollout of Paramount+, supported the global expansion of the free streaming service Pluto TV and contributed to the creation and launch of SkyShowtime, the streaming joint venture established by Paramount and Comcast.<\/p>\n

He was also instrumental in expanding the company\u2019s presence through the acquisition and launch of free-to-air television channels in several major European markets, including Italy, Spain and Germany.<\/p>\n

Annecchino worked closely with numerous international media companies and distribution partners, including Sky, Canal+, MultiChoice, Viaplay, RTL and Mediapro. His ability to build partnerships and negotiate complex agreements helped strengthen Paramount\u2019s global footprint.<\/p>\n

Annecchino also served on the boards of Viacom18 in India, SBS Media in South Korea and SkyShowtime.<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, Annecchino consistently advocated for investment in international markets and locally produced programming.<\/p>\n

Annecchino earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in economics from the European Business School in London and an executive MBA from Instituto de Empresa International in Madrid.<\/p>\n
