Miss Jones had been giving her second-grade students a lesson on science. She had explained about magnets and showed how they would pick up nails and other bits of iron. Now it was question time, and she asked, \u201cMy name begins with the letter \u2018M\u2019 and I pick up things. What am I?\u201d<\/p>\n
A little boy on the front row proudly said, \u201cYou\u2019re a mother!\u201d<\/p>\n
A teacher was helping one of her kindergarten students put his boots on. He asked for help, and she could see why. Even with her pulling and pushing the boots, they just didn\u2019t want to go on.<\/p>\n
By the time she\u2019d finally gotten the second boot on, she\u2019d worked up a sweat. She paused for a moment, convinced that she had somehow managed to win the battle. That\u2019s when the little boy looked down at his feet and calmly said, \u201cMrs. Smith, they\u2019re on the wrong feet.\u201d<\/p>\n
She looked, and sure enough, they were.<\/p>\n
It wasn\u2019t any easier getting them back off and putting them on the correct feet. She tugged, twisted, and wrestled with the stubborn boots until she finally managed to get them where they belonged. Just as she was catching her breath, the little boy added, \u201cThese aren\u2019t my boots. They\u2019re my brother\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n
She stared at him in disbelief.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy mom made me wear them.\u201d<\/p>\n
She bit her tongue and managed to keep her cool. But she mustered up the courage one more time to wrestle those boots onto his feet again. When she finally finished, she looked at him and said, \u201cNow, where are your mittens?\u201d<\/p>\n
The little boy smiled as though he had been waiting for that question all along.<\/p>\n
\u201cI stuffed them in the toes of my boots.\u201d<\/p>\n
A science teacher asked her students, \u201cChildren, if you could own one material, what would it be?\u201d<\/p>\n
One girl immediately raised her hand and said, \u201cI would choose gold. It\u2019s worth lots of money, and I could buy a Corvette.\u201d<\/p>\n
One boy thought for a moment before saying, \u201cI would want platinum because it\u2019s worth more than gold, and I could buy a Porsche.\u201d<\/p>\n
The teacher nodded, impressed by their answers. Then she turned toward Little Johnny, who had been sitting quietly and listening to everyone else.<\/p>\n
\u201cLittle Johnny, what would you want?\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny answered without hesitation, \u201cI would want silicone.\u201d<\/p>\n
The teacher frowned, genuinely puzzled. \u201cWhy would you want silicone?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n
Johnny shrugged innocently and replied, \u201cWell, my mom got some, and there\u2019s always a Porsche or Corvette sitting in our driveway.\u201d<\/p>\n
For a moment, the classroom went completely silent.<\/p>\n
