Every year, St. Mary’s Church held a huge bake sale that brought the whole town together.<\/p>\n
This year, Martha proudly arrived carrying a tray covered with a fancy embroidered cloth.<\/p>\n
The pastor smiled. “Martha, what delicious treat have you brought for us today?”<\/p>\n
She grinned. “It’s my special recipe cake. My husband says it’s absolutely irresistible.”<\/p>\n
Within minutes, people were lining up for slices.<\/p>\n
An elderly gentleman took one bite and declared, “This is the best cake I’ve tasted in 40 years!”<\/p>\n
A woman from the choir said, “Martha, what’s your secret ingredient?”<\/p>\n
Martha winked. “Love.”<\/p>\n
Just then her husband Frank walked into the hall.<\/p>\n
The pastor laughed. “Frank, your wife’s cake is causing quite a sensation. She says the secret ingredient is love.”<\/p>\n
Frank shook his head and chuckled.<\/p>\n
“Nope.”<\/p>\n
The room fell silent.<\/p>\n
“No?” asked the pastor.<\/p>\n
Frank smiled and said:<\/p>\n
“After thirty years of marriage, if there was that much love in our house, she’d have remembered to put sugar in it.”<\/p>\n
The crowd burst into laughter.<\/p>\n
Then a little old lady yelled from the back:<\/p>\n
