A group of friends was planning a weekend trip to the mountains. Among them were Jake and Emily, a young newlywed couple who had been married for only three months.<\/p>\n
The night before departure, everyone was busy packing. Jake was trying to be the perfect husband.<\/p>\n
\u201cEmily,\u201d he said proudly, \u201cI packed everything we could possibly need.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cAbsolutely. Blankets, hiking boots, snacks, first-aid kit, flashlight, extra batteries, raincoats… I even packed a survival guide.\u201d<\/p>\n
Emily smiled. \u201cWow, I’m impressed.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next morning, the group piled into a van and headed toward the mountains. Halfway there, one of their friends asked Emily, \u201cDid Jake really pack everything?\u201d<\/p>\n
Emily laughed. \u201cAccording to him, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jake grinned confidently. \u201cI planned for every emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n
Several hours later, they arrived at the cabin. Everyone unpacked their bags.<\/p>\n
One friend pulled out hiking gear.<\/p>\n
Another unpacked fishing equipment.<\/p>\n
A third revealed enough food to feed a small army.<\/p>\n
Then Emily opened her suitcase.<\/p>\n
Inside were six pairs of shoes, three jackets, four sweaters, two dresses…<\/p>\n
\u2026and absolutely no clothes for Jake.<\/p>\n
Emily looked at him. \u201cHoney, where’s your luggage?\u201d<\/p>\n
Jake suddenly turned pale.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy luggage?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jake stared blankly for a moment.<\/p>\n
Then he slowly looked at the giant suitcase he’d been proudly carrying all day.<\/p>\n
\u201cHoney,\u201d he whispered, \u201cisn’t this my luggage?\u201d<\/p>\n
Emily folded her arms.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. That’s mine.\u201d<\/p>\n
The entire group burst into laughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I packed it myself!\u201d Jake protested.<\/p>\n
Emily nodded.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes. And apparently you spent two hours carefully packing my clothes while completely forgetting your own.\u201d<\/p>\n
One friend wiped tears from his eyes and said,<\/p>\n
\u201cJake, that’s the most newly-married thing I’ve ever heard.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jake sighed and looked at the mountains.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, at least I packed the survival guide.\u201d<\/p>\n
Emily grinned.<\/p>\n
\u201cGood.
