According to family representatives, Lucas passed away in Rancho Mirage, California, after battling metastatic cancer.<\/p>\n

Widely regarded as one of the unsung creative forces behind the original Star Wars<\/em> trilogy, Lucas won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for the 1977 blockbuster alongside fellow editors Richard Chew and Paul Hirsch. Her contributions were instrumental in refining the film\u2019s pacing, emotional impact, and iconic climactic sequences, including the legendary Death Star battle.<\/p>\n

Born as Marcia Lou Griffin in California, Lucas began her career during Hollywood\u2019s New Hollywood era and quickly established herself as a talented editor. Beyond Star Wars<\/em>, she worked on several landmark films, including American Graffiti<\/em>, Taxi Driver<\/em>, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore<\/em>, and Return of the Jedi<\/em>.
