One Saturday morning, little Brady walked into the kitchen and found his grandfather cooking the biggest breakfast he had ever seen \u2014 stacks of pancakes, crispy bacon, eggs, sausages, buttered toast, hash browns, and even apple pie sitting on the counter.<\/p>\n
Brady\u2019s eyes nearly popped out.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrandpa!\u201d he shouted. \u201cMom says eating like that is dangerous!\u201d<\/p>\n
Grandpa calmly poured syrup over the pancakes and replied,
\u201cBoy, when you get to my age, you stop worrying about danger and start worrying about flavor.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brady sat down and watched him take a huge bite.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut didn\u2019t the doctor tell you to eat healthy?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
Grandpa nodded proudly.
\u201cOh yes. Doctor gave me a strict diet.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brady looked relieved.
\u201cSo\u2026 what happened?\u201d<\/p>\n
Grandpa leaned closer and whispered,
\u201cI got a second opinion from my stomach.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brady burst out laughing. But then he noticed Grandma standing in the doorway with her arms crossed.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t encourage him,\u201d Grandma snapped. \u201cYesterday he told the doctor he exercises every day!\u201d<\/p>\n
Brady looked confused.
\u201cYou exercise, Grandpa?\u201d<\/p>\n
Grandpa grinned.
\u201cOf course I do.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat kind?\u201d<\/p>\n
Grandpa pointed at the recliner in the living room.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do stretches every time the TV remote falls on the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n
Grandma rolled her eyes.
\u201cThat man hasn\u2019t jogged in 30 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Grandpa shrugged.
\u201cAnd yet here I am\u2026 undefeated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brady laughed so hard milk came out of his nose.<\/p>\n
Then Grandpa took another giant bite of pie and said proudly,<\/p>\n
\u201cListen carefully, kid\u2026 people spend their whole lives eating salad just to die anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brady asked,
\u201cSo what\u2019s your secret to living this long?\u201d<\/p>\n
Grandpa smiled, patted his belly, and delivered the punchline:<\/p>\n
