Instead of praising\u00a0Meghan Markle<\/a>\u00a0for supporting sick kids, the online community is slamming the Duchess of\u00a0Sussex<\/a>\u00a0for appearing \u201chalf naked\u201d at a children\u2019s charity gala.<\/p>\n

While Prince Harry was in South Africa discussing the HIV\/AIDS crisis, Meghan Markle made a surprise solo appearance at the Children\u2019s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) 2024 Gala, a fundraising event that supports pediatric caregivers and patients.<\/p>\n

According to the hospital\u2019s\u00a0website<\/a>, the star-studded event \u2013 held once every two years \u2013was hosted by actor Jon Cryer and TV personality Lisa Joyner. Honored guests included producer Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men<\/em>,\u00a0Big Bang Theory<\/em>) and former boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard and his wife Bernadette.<\/p>\n

In an interview shared on social media, Markle, 43, describes the hospital as the \u201cbest place in the world\u201d for children to receive treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh my goodness, the work they do at Children\u2019s Hospital L.A. is otherworldy, and I think from my standpoint as a mother, no one wants to be in a position where you need to go to a place like this, but if you have to, the best place in the world you could go would be Children\u2019s Hospital L.A.,\u201d said the Duchess, who in her husband\u2019s absence, walked the red carpet with her close friend Kelly McKee Zafjen.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0Instagram<\/a>, Zafjen \u2013 whose daughter Lily is a former patient at the hospital \u2013 writes, \u201cI was also beyond grateful to share in this beautiful evening with one of my closest friends. Markle showed up at the event with her locks effortlessly flowing over her toned shoulders, which were highlighted by the same strappy red Carolina Herrera gown \u2013 minus the dramatic train \u2013 that she previously wore.<\/p>\n

She wore the bold red gown with a daring neckline in 2021 when she appeared alongside Prince Harry at the Salute to Freedom Gala in New York, and fans were not impressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is pretty bad, at least she recycles,\u201d writes one netizen. A\u00a0second offers<\/a>\u00a0their opinion on why Markle repurposed the dress: \u201cObviously she is out of money.
