His passing was confirmed by his former wife and musical partner, Ralna English, who said he died peacefully on January 22, 2026, after spending several weeks in the hospital.<\/p>\n

Hovis rose to national prominence as part of the popular singing duo Guy & Ralna<\/strong>, which became one of the show\u2019s most cherished acts. The pair first appeared together during a 1969 Christmas episode, and their chemistry and vocal harmony quickly won over audiences, earning them a regular spot on the iconic television program for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1941, Hovis began singing in church at just five years old, laying the foundation for a lifelong musical career.
