His sudden passing has shocked the jazz community and fans around the world.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"479\" data-end=\"925\">Peplowski was found <strong data-start=\"499\" data-end=\"540\">dead in his cabin on February 1, 2026<\/strong>, during the final day of <em data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"587\">The Jazz Cruise \u201926<\/em>, a week-long music voyage aboard the <strong data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"645\">Celebrity Summit<\/strong> sailing in the Gulf of Mexico. The musician\u2019s death was discovered after he failed to show up for an afternoon performance with a quartet as scheduled. When crew and fellow performers went searching, they found him unresponsive in his cabin.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"951\"><strong>A Sudden Loss at Sea<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"1334\">Organizers of <em data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"984\">The Jazz Cruise<\/em> confirmed the tragic news in a statement to passengers and later in blog posts online. Over a career spanning five decades, he became known for his deep command of both swing and mainstream jazz styles, as well as his charismatic presence on stage. He worked with legendary figures in jazz, and his collaborations included performances with artists across genres.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2236\" data-end=\"2555\">Peplowski\u2019s music career included serving as music director for jazz festivals such as the Oregon Coast Jazz Party and contributions as jazz advisor to the Oregon Festival of American Music. Throughout his life, he also recorded extensively and performed at major venues worldwide.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2557\" data-end=\"2803\">Despite a public battle with <strong data-start=\"2586\" data-end=\"2606\">multiple myeloma<\/strong>, a rare form of blood cancer diagnosed in 2021, Peplowski remained active in performance and continued to play with passion and skill up until his final days.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2805\" data-end=\"2843\"><strong>Community Reaction and Remembrance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2845\" data-end=\"3200\">News of Peplowski\u2019s death was met with an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artists alike.
