Jacob and I had been married for six years. Our marriage wasn\u2019t perfect\u2014no marriage ever is\u2014but I thought we were solid. We shared a cozy little home, we laughed a lot, and we always tried to make time for each other even when work got in the way. I thanked her numbly, barely able to register her worried questions as I backed away and drove home. I sat in my car in the driveway for a long time, watching the lights in our house glowing gently through the curtains. The man inside\u2014my husband\u2014had just been caught in the biggest, most elaborate lie of our marriage.<\/span><\/p>\n
