The duo are natives of IIoJK, living in exile.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94914\" src=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/30-300x164.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/30-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/30.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>India sent its forces to occupy Jammu and Kashmir on Oct. 27, 1947, which triggered a mass mobilization against New Delhi\u2019s illegal military rule.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94915\" src=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/thumbnail-300x164.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/thumbnail-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/thumbnail.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The roundtable decried the grave human rights situation in IIoJK, especially after August 2019 when India re-annexed the UN-designated disputed territory and \u201cis engaged in occupying military-backed settler colonialism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94916\" src=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/26-5-300x164.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/26-5-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/26-5.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is incumbent upon the British lawmakers to press their government to stand up and stop the annihilation of Kashmiri life,\u201d the participants agreed, regretting criminal silence by the international community.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94917\" src=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/27-5-300x164.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/27-5-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/27-5.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The participants expressed frustration over the muzzling of the vibrant local media in IIoJK, which has seen well-designed clampdown by the Indian military regime in IIoJK.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94918\" src=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/30-1-300x164.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/30-1-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/30-1.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Proposals made by Kayani on the occasion included urging the British government to \u201cconvince the United Nations to prevail upon India to repeal all draconian laws, including Unlawful Activity Prevention Act (UAPA), Public Safety Act (PSA) which are being used to forcibly silence the people into submission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-95009\" src=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/PNI-Temp-Red-Eng-283-300x164.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/PNI-Temp-Red-Eng-283-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/PNI-Temp-Red-Eng-283.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Calling for release of political prisoners including Masarat Alam Bhat, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Syedah Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Khurram Parvez, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Nayeem Khan, Zafar Akbar Bhat, Cllr Armaan Khan and others, the roundtable said, \u201cthe British government must support setting up an enquiry commission on human rights violations in Kashmir during the forthcoming session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva to be held in February 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mushtaq Lashari, Councillor Majid Hussain, Naila Azmat, Councillor M Nazir, also spoke on the occasion, expressing support to people of IIoJK.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON (PNI) Emphasizing the need for mass awareness regarding the right to self-determination, lawmakers, activists, professionals, students reminded the British government of its responsibility on Kashmir.
