RAWALPINDI July 27 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench Justice Anwarul Haq Pannu and Justice Safdar Saleem Shahid on Thursday accepted the bail plea of former federal minister Shehryar Afridi, who was arrested on charges of inciting violence and arson against workers in the GHQ attack case.<\/p>\n
Court ordered release on a bond of 2 lakh rupees.
\nThe court has also approved the bail of 6 other accused in the same case.
\nShahyar Afridi’s lawyers Sher Afzal Khan Marwat and Chaudhry Ishtiaq Mehrban appeared in court.<\/p>\n
Shahryar Afridi’s lawyers argued that the petitioner was arrested under the 3 MPO issued on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner, but the high court suspended the detention orders, after which the client was detained and physically assaulted. There was no reason to get remand in the case in which the nomination is alleged. <\/p>\n
This case is also based on malice in which neither an army officer is the plaintiff but the case is registered in the complaint of the police. is in jail, lawyer said.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, the Special Prosecutor opposed and took the stand that there was evidence of incitement and provocation in the GHQ attack against the petitioner, Section 21(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act included in case due to video messages evidence.<\/p>\n
With the permission of Judicial Magistrate Islamabad Naveed Ahmad Khan, the accused was interrogated in Adiala Jail on June 20, afterward he was officially arrested in this case.<\/p>\n
While 6\/7 co-accused in this case also took the stand that Shehryar Afridi incited the angry mob on social media to attack GHQ, special prosecutor said.<\/p>\n
Petitioner instigated the mob to attack GHQ by giving a regular speech against the petitioner. There is evidence of incitement in the GHQ attack for which Section 21(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act has been added to the case regarding the video message.<\/p>\n
After hearing the arguments of the lawyers of the parties, the court accepted Shahyar Afridi’s bail application and ordered his release on a bond of 2 lakh rupees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
