ISLAMABAD, JUNE 3rd (Online): Pitt and Jolie had a mutual and binding commitment which prohibited any of them from disposing his or her interest separately without the other’s consent.<\/p>\n
Brad Pitt is taking legal action against former wife Angelina Jolie for selling her portion of their shared French vineyard to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler, without consulting him. As per a report by New York Post, the former couple had an equal stake in the $160 million Chateau Miraval.
\nAs per the report, Pitt and Jolie had a mutual and binding commitment which prohibited any of them from disposing his or her interest separately without the other’s consent. By selling her portion, Jolie violated the commitment. Pitt\u2019s attorneys filed a complaint in Los Angeles court on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was by design: Jolie collaborated in secret with Shefler and his associates to pursue and then consummate the purported sale, ensuring that Pitt would be kept in the dark,\u201d reads the complaint filed by Pitt.
\nShefler\u2019s Stoli company and Jolie \u201cknowingly violated Pitt\u2019s and [his company] Mondo Bongo\u2019s contractual rights and forced a stranger into Pitt\u2019s family home,\u201d reads the legal papers as quoted by New York Post.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Jolie\u2019s attorneys have called Pitt\u2019s actions concerning the matter as \u201cfrivolous, malicious and part of a problematic pattern.\u201d
\nAs per the paperwork related to the case, the vineyard was part of Pitt’s winery business with esteemed winemaker Marc Perrin with whom he teamed up in 2013.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether they would create one of the first high-end ros\u00e9 wines, branded as a family-owned, family-run French wine business. That strategy met with success. Under Pitt\u2019s and Perrin\u2019s stewardship, Miraval has grown into a multimillion dollar global business and one of the world\u2019s most highly regarded makers of ros\u00e9 wine,\u201d reads Pitt\u2019s document.<\/p>\n
\u201cJolie, though supportive of Pitt\u2019s efforts on behalf of the family, did none of the work necessary for Miraval\u2019s success. Instead, she stood by as Pitt invested money and sweat equity into the home and business in reliance on her promise to hold Miraval together, as well as the contractual rights her holding company Nouvel owed his.\u201d<\/p>\n
