ISLAMABAD\u00a0\u00a0 –\u00a0 Pakistan on Saturday reported 3,876 fresh Covid-19 cases \u2014 the highest single day cases since July last year, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The last time the country had reported more cases than this was on July 2, 2020 when 4,432 cases were recorded. Over the past 24 hours, Sindh reported 293 cases, Punjab 2,033 cases, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 681 cases, Balochistan 16 cases, Islamabad 747 cases and Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported 106 such cases. Gilgit-Baltistan did not report any case or death. The country\u2019s caseload has risen sharply in the last two weeks, with data suggesting an almost 50 percent increase in the daily cases week over week, according to the NCOC. The positivity rate is hovering at the brink of double digit (9.5pc), the highest it has been since July when Pakistan was in the throes of its first virus wave, so far the deadliest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Covid-19 vaccination centres across the country will remain closed today, and on national holidays as March 23, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll vaccination centres across the country will remain closed on Sundays and national holidays like March 23,\u201d said the NCOC in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It said that the decision has been taken to give relief to the vaccine administrators and healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to serve the nation in this time of crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
