{"id":78537,"date":"2023-05-11T18:18:50","date_gmt":"2023-05-11T13:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=78537"},"modified":"2023-05-11T18:18:50","modified_gmt":"2023-05-11T13:18:50","slug":"supreme-court-declares-imran-khans-arrest-illegal-orders-his-release-immediately","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/top-news\/supreme-court-declares-imran-khans-arrest-illegal-orders-his-release-immediately\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court declares Imran Khan\u2019s arrest illegal, orders his release immediately"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (PNI) PTI Chairman Imran Khan\u2019s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case has been declared illegal by the Supreme Court and authorities have been ordered to release him immediately.<\/p>\n<p>The court also directed Khan to approach the Islamabad High Court once again.<\/p>\n<p>The order came shortly after the PTI Chairman was presented in court.<\/p>\n<p>The SC had directed the authorities to present Khan \u2014 who was ousted as the prime minister last year in April \u2014 at 4:30pm, but he was produced at around 5:40pm, more than an hour later.<\/p>\n<p>When the hearing resumed, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial told Khan, &#8220;it is good to see you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe that Imran Khan&#8217;s arrest was illegal,&#8221; remarked the CJP.<\/p>\n<p>CJP Bandial said that the IHC should hear the case tomorrow. &#8220;You will have to accept whatever the high court decides,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The CJP said that it is every politician&#8217;s responsibility to ensure law and order.<\/p>\n<p>The directives to present Khan in the court came after the CJP termed the PTI leader&#8217;s arrest from the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC) as a mighty disgrace to the country&#8217;s judicial establishment.<\/p>\n<p>The CJP passed the remark while heading a three-member bench hearing PTI&#8217;s petition challenging Khan&#8217;s arrest.
