{"id":72025,"date":"2023-03-16T02:30:18","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T21:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=72025"},"modified":"2023-03-16T02:03:53","modified_gmt":"2023-03-15T21:03:53","slug":"sc-adjourns-nab-amendment-case-till-march-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/pakistan-news\/sc-adjourns-nab-amendment-case-till-march-16\/","title":{"rendered":"SC adjourns NAB amendment case till March 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, Mar 15 (APP):The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday adjourned hearing  on a petition challenging amendments in NAB law till March 16.<\/p>\n<p>A three-member bench of the top court headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the case filed by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)\u2019s Chairman Imran Khan.<\/p>\n<p>At the outset of hearing, federal government\u2019s Lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan argued that the amendments had increased the power of National Accountability Bureau (NAB). <\/p>\n<p>He said that the PTI\u2019s chairman had taken stance in the petition on the basis of just assumptions. <\/p>\n<p>The lawyer said that the PTI government itself had introduced the amnesty scheme in 2019. <\/p>\n<p>The chief justice remarked that the scheme was successful and several people got benefits from it. <\/p>\n<p>The lawyer said that now no one would take the amnesty scheme because after this NAB used to take actions. <\/p>\n<p>The PTI chief, he said, had saved his cabinet members from the powers of the NAB. <\/p>\n<p>Justice Mansoor Ali Shah questioned that whether the FATF had asked that the NAB would view the affairs of money laundering. <\/p>\n<p>The chief justice remarked that the lawyer had highlighted the mistakes of the petitioners\u2019 as well. <\/p>\n<p>The CJP said that the government had extended the powers of NAB but the petitioner did not appreciated this. <\/p>\n<p>To a question, the lawyer said that the NAB could investigate the affairs related to fake accounts after viewing the crime nature. <\/p>\n<p>The further hearing of the case was then adjourned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, Mar 15 (APP):The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday adjourned hearing on a petition challenging amendments in NAB law till March 16.
