{"id":6160,"date":"2021-02-14T08:00:05","date_gmt":"2021-02-14T08:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=6160"},"modified":"2021-02-14T08:00:06","modified_gmt":"2021-02-14T08:00:06","slug":"probe-team-to-find-beneficiaries-of-vote-purchase-financiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/pakistan-news\/probe-team-to-find-beneficiaries-of-vote-purchase-financiers\/","title":{"rendered":"Probe team to find beneficiaries of vote purchase, financiers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ISLAMABAD\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 A three-member committee probing the video scandal of alleged vote buying in 2018 Senate election Saturday decided to\u00a0investigate\u00a0the beneficiaries of the vote purchase as well as the financiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its maiden meeting held in the federal capital, the committee also decided to invite the journalist who released the video on the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe committee will probe who were the beneficiaries of the purchased votes and who allegedly provided the money to purchase the MPAs votes,\u201d said a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee comprises Federal Minister for Science and Technology Ch Fawad Hussain, Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari and Advisor to PM on accountability and Interior Shahzad Akbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The body recognised the undermining of democracy by vote purchasing especially in Senate elections which have been regularly subjected to this malpractice. Besides defining its procedures, the committee decided to use Human Rights Minister\u2019s office as its secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The body will also request those who may have first hand information or knowledge of the incident to share this information with the committee either in writing or in person. The committee would probe who were the beneficiaries of the purchased votes and who allegedly provided the money to purchase the votes of MPAs.
