ISLAMABAD\u00a0\u00a0 –\u00a0 Prime Minister\u00a0Imran Khan yesterday said that the government has launched urban forestry on the lines of Japanese Miyawaki technique to fight pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a tweet, he said that he has chosen fifty sites in Lahore for this purpose emphasising that the Miyawaki technique helps grow trees ten times faster and thirty times denser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the first experiment of Miyawaki was done at Liberty Roundabout Lahore last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the provincial capital being one of the most densely populated cities of Pakistan, the prime minister added, \u201c50 sites have been chosen in Lahore.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the inauguration of the Spring Plantation 2021 on Friday, the Prime Minister had kicked off the project at the Lahore\u2019s Jilani Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, it is a unique technique that helps build native forests 10 times faster and 30 times denser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the approach, dozens of native species are planted in the same area, close to each other, which ensures that the plants receive sunlight only from the top, and grow upwards than sideways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forest is self-perpetuating and maintenance-free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
