{"id":55499,"date":"2022-08-21T23:30:08","date_gmt":"2022-08-21T18:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=55499"},"modified":"2022-08-21T18:37:19","modified_gmt":"2022-08-21T13:37:19","slug":"govt-considering-charging-imran-with-sedition-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/pakistan-news\/govt-considering-charging-imran-with-sedition-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt considering charging Imran with \u2018sedition\u2019 cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD \u2013 August 21 (ONLINE) PML-N-led coalition government is considering launching \u2018sedition\u2019 case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan for his \u2018anti-state\u2019 and \u2018provocative\u2019 speech Saturday, interior minister Rana Sanaullah announced during a press conference Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is all happening in continuation \u2014 from a campaign after Lasbela incident when six army officers were martyred followed by Gill\u2019s attempt to incite army ranks to go against their top command and then Imran threatening a woman judge and police officials for performing their duties as per the law,\u201d Rana Sanaullah said in his presser on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday night, PTI Chairman and ex PM Imran Khan lashed out at Islamabad Police and a judicial magistrate for their alleged \u2018biasness\u2019 over the issue of imprisoned PTI leader Dr. Shahbaz Gill\u2019s case. Imran claimed in a rally that the Islamabad police was taking orders for action against his party leaders from \u201csomeone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On the very next day (Sunday), the minister called out Imran for allegedly threatening institutions and preventing officers from performing their lawful duties.<\/p>\n<p>Rana Sanaullah said government was holding legal consultations on whether to file a separate case against PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his \u201cprovocative speech\u201d a day ago or nominate him in a previous case.<\/p>\n<p>Rana Sanaullah claimed that his ministry had proofs that Shahbaz Gill, who is currently under Islamabad Police\u2019s custody in a case pertaining to \u2018sedition\u2019 and \u2018instigating people against state institutions\u2019, had given an audio beeper to the ARY News as part of a plan.  We have proofs in the form of a telephonic conversation allegedly revealing Gill\u2019s understanding with ARY News workers about uninterrupted 14-minute airtime to be given to him for speaking against the army, he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Rejecting claims of alleged torture on Dr. Shahbaz Gill, he said that Gill was produced before judicial magistrate within twenty four hours and he was absolutely fine and did not complain of torture. He said on 11th of this month medical board did not indicated any torture in its report.
