{"id":55492,"date":"2022-08-21T22:30:22","date_gmt":"2022-08-21T17:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=55492"},"modified":"2022-08-21T18:34:07","modified_gmt":"2022-08-21T13:34:07","slug":"polling-concludes-at-karachis-na-245-by-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/pakistan-news\/polling-concludes-at-karachis-na-245-by-polls\/","title":{"rendered":"Polling concludes at Karachi\u2019s NA-245 by-polls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI \u2013 August 21 (ONLINE) Polling concluded in the by elections in Karachi\u2019s NA-245 constituency Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>DAWN reported that turnout improved during the final hours of polling, as citizens casted their vote to pick their representative for the seat that was vacated by PTI\u2019s late Aamir Liaquat Hussain.<\/p>\n<p>Media reported relatively low turnout throughout the day, with polling officials sitting at potentially vacant polling stations.<\/p>\n<p>However, as the day progressed, some citizens could be seen at election camp offices getting information.<\/p>\n<p>Polling\u2019s process remained lawful and no \u2018unwanted\u2019 incident was reported at all. The by-election on the seat, which fell vacant after Aamir Liaquat\u2019s sudden death in June, was originally scheduled to be held on July 27, but the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had to postpone it amid torrential rains.<\/p>\n<p>Liaquat was elected on a PTI ticket in the 2018 general elections, defeating Farooq Sattar of the MQM-P by securing 56,673 votes against his 35,429 votes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI \u2013 August 21 (ONLINE) Polling concluded in the by elections in Karachi\u2019s NA-245 constituency Sunday.
