{"id":43832,"date":"2022-04-22T22:30:12","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T17:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=43832"},"modified":"2022-04-22T17:18:19","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T12:18:19","slug":"world-earth-day-observed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/climate-environment-news\/world-earth-day-observed\/","title":{"rendered":"World Earth Day observed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, April 22 (Online): World Earth Day was observed on Friday.<br \/>\nThis year the theme of the day is Invest in Our Planet.<\/p>\n<p>Earth Day is a global event that works to encourage and raise awareness of climate change and environment protection.<\/p>\n<p>The event was first held on 22 April 1970, and has been commemorated every year since.<\/p>\n<p>In his message, the Chairman of Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has said that through celebrating \u201cEarth Day\u201d the importance of the environment is being highlighted all over the world. \u201cClimate change is directly or indirectly affecting human lives,&#8221; the Senate chairman said in a special message.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman underlined that steps were being taken within the country as per SDGs set by the UN and all over the globe to combat the threats posed by climate change\/Global Warming. Landmark steps have been taken in the recent past and these initiatives have been acknowledged worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The Parliament of Pakistan has played an effective role in this regard and has adopted a comprehensive strategy along with legislation to make the environment humane and minimize the negative effects of climate change\u201d, the Chairman observed.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman Senate has appealed to the citizens of Pakistan to support \u201cEarth day\u201d by showing love to the Planet in true spirit and with great fervour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, April 22 (Online): World Earth Day was observed on Friday.
