{"id":3845,"date":"2020-12-31T12:43:24","date_gmt":"2020-12-31T12:43:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=3845"},"modified":"2020-12-31T12:43:26","modified_gmt":"2020-12-31T12:43:26","slug":"china-approves-first-vaccine-for-market-rollout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/latest-world-news\/china-approves-first-vaccine-for-market-rollout\/","title":{"rendered":"China approves first vaccine for market rollout"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>China on Thursday announced it has approved the first vaccine for market use in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country\u2019s Medical Products Administration officially granted \u201cconditional marketing authorization\u201d for state-owned Sinopharm vaccine, CGTN News reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Beijing-based pharmaceutical company on Wednesday announced that its two-dose inactivated vaccine has nearly 80% efficacy and is seeking market approval from authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shares of Sinopharm jumped by at least 7% after the announcement was made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the first vaccine to get approval for market rollout in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vaccine was developed by China National Biotech Group, a subsidiary of the state-owned Sinopharm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vaccine has 79.34% efficacy and around 99.52% antibody positive conversion rate, the Beijing Biological Products Institute had said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It added that interim results of Phase 3 clinical trials, which are underway in a number of countries, on its inactivated vaccine showed that \u201cthe vaccine can trigger high-titer coronavirus antibodies after two injections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month, the UAE officially approved Sinopharm&#8217;s experimental vaccine, saying it has 86% efficacy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China on Thursday announced it has approved the first vaccine for market use in the country.
