{"id":35179,"date":"2022-01-25T21:00:17","date_gmt":"2022-01-25T16:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=35179"},"modified":"2022-01-28T10:24:48","modified_gmt":"2022-01-28T05:24:48","slug":"crypto-currency-fraud-sc-orders-nab-to-file-reference-against-the-accused-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/top-news\/crypto-currency-fraud-sc-orders-nab-to-file-reference-against-the-accused-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Crypto currency fraud: SC orders NAB to file reference against the accused soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has rejected bail plea of one Wasim Zeb allegedly involved in committing fraud of billion of rupees with the people in the name of crypto currency. <\/p>\n<p>SC has directed NAB to file reference against the accused soon. <\/p>\n<p>A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up bail plea of accused Wasim Zeb  for hearing Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>Justice Qazi  Amin while reprimanding NAB for delay in filing reference remarked non filing the references for two years is criminal negligence of NAB. NAB does not file reference and the responsibility is shifted to the courts. <\/p>\n<p>NAB prosecutor told the court the accused Wasim Zeb collected Rs 1.7 billion from the citizens through fraud. The money which was collected from the citizens was put in crypto currency account. Hundreds of the affectees have recorded their statements against the accused. <\/p>\n<p>Justice Umar Ata Bandial inquired we have heard about crypto currency and bit coin. It is what. <\/p>\n<p>NAB prosecutor told the court digital coin is given to the citizens in return for money. <\/p>\n<p>The counsel for the accused took the plea during the hearing of the case my client is charged with collecting money. But no receipt has come to open  on collection of money. <\/p>\n<p>Justice Qazi Amin remarked why has NAB not traced the assets of the accused. This is the standard of NAB investigation into mega cases that NAB has no basic information about the case.
