\nPfizer and BioNTech says they have begun submitting data to the US Food and Drug Administration for the highly anticipated authorisation of their Covid-19 vaccine in children aged five to 11.<\/p>\n
– Vaccine rights plea –
\nSouth African President Cyril Ramaphosa asks the World Trade Organization to suspend intellectual property rights for Covid-19 vaccines to bridge the huge gap in vaccination rates worldwide.<\/p>\n
– Iranian opening –
\nIran will resume issuing visas to foreign tourists from next month, officials say, after suspending services for 19 months due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
– Tokyo ends emergency –
\nA pandemic state of emergency targeting nightlife in Tokyo and other Japanese regions will end this week, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga says, as cases nosedive nationwide.<\/p>\n
– Chelsea’s Kante positive –

– More than 4.7 million dead –
\nThe coronavirus has killed at least 4,752,875 people since the outbreak emerged in China in December 2019, according to an AFP compilation of official data.<\/p>\n
The US is the worst-affected country with 690,426 deaths, followed by Brazil with 594,653, India with 447,373, Mexico 275,676 and Russia with 205,531.<\/p>\n
