LAHORE, FEB 19 (ONLINE): Lahore High Court (LHC) has allowed to kill stray dogs besides issuing detailed judgment.
\nThe court remarked incurable dogs be killed in better and comfortable way. <\/p>\n
Justice Jawad Hassan issued 6-page decision whereby it was directed to kill dogs in line with guidelines of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
\nThis decision was announced on the petitions of citizen Aneela Umair and other petitioners.<\/p>\n
They had prayed the court to order to stop ongoing operation against dogs in Rawalpindi.
\nThe petitioners took the plea that applications were given to concerned authorities against killing dogs. But action was not taken on these applications. <\/p>\n
According to court’s decision the concerned authorities told the court operation against the stray dogs was launched as per complaints of citizens. <\/p>\n
Veterinary officer Rawalpindi informed the court several complaints of dogs bite were received and due to it this operation was launched. <\/p>\n
Veterinary officer further said that health, religious related and other grave problems are being created due to stray dogs. They attack citizens as well and people are facing intense embarrassment due to it. <\/p>\n
The counsel for petitioners said government can adopt alternative procedure to address the problems of dogs bite. <\/p>\n
According to them the stray dogs bite people due to lack of food. Therefore, government should ensure supply of food to these stray dogs instead of killing them. <\/p>\n
The court said in its decision government and other respondents should strictly pursue the policy of rights of animals, public interest\u00a0and\u00a0safety.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
