{"id":117832,"date":"2025-01-02T17:54:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-02T12:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/?p=117832"},"modified":"2025-01-02T17:54:00","modified_gmt":"2025-01-02T12:54:00","slug":"poa-president-for-revival-of-intl-sports-in-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pni.net.pk\/en\/latest-sports-news\/poa-president-for-revival-of-intl-sports-in-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"POA President for revival of int\u2019l sports in Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE, Jan 02  :The newly-elected President Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Arif Saeed has vowed to gear up efforts for the revival of international sports in the country and improve country soft image globally though sports.<br \/>\nChairing the executive committee meeting of the POA here on Thursday, he stressed the<\/p>\n<p>need for restoring the trust of international sports community through consolidated efforts,<\/p>\n<p>adding that he would foster harmonious relations with all stake-holders including Pakistan<br \/>\nSports Board (PSB) for revitalizing sports sector in the country.<br \/>\n\u201cPakistan held world titles in sports like cricket, hockey, snooker and squash during its heyday but ups and downs are natural part of sports as no one remains at the top forever,\u201d President Arif Saeed remarked, adding continuous efforts were needed to improve.<br \/>\nHe also emphasized his commitment to put up efforts so that sports and athletes get due<br \/>\nrecognition in the country.<br \/>\nUrging the office bearers of various sports federations, the POA President invited proposals<br \/>\nfor promoting sports at national and international levels within the first 100 days, adding that their proposals would be key to outlining actionable steps for the advancement and development of sports in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>He said the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was actively supporting well-being of<br \/>\nathletes worldwide, and similarly, the POA and National Sports Federations (NSFs) should<br \/>\nstrive to do the same.
