Islamabad\/Lahore, December 26, 2024: The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Higher Education Commission (HEC), successfully concluded the National Faculty Development Program (NFDP) for the Interim Placement of Fresh PhDs (IPFP). The closing ceremony marked the culmination of an intensive three-week training designed to empower early-career academics with essential professional competencies.<\/p>\n
Dr. Muhammad Younus Rana, Vice Chancellor, UVAS, Lahore was chief guest in the closing ceremony. He praised NAHE\u2019s pivotal role as HEC\u2019s dedicated capacity-building arm in advancing the professional development of higher education faculty across Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Distinguished speakers included Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Dr. Amir Ghafoor Bajwa, Director, University Diagnostic Laboratory and Dr. Muhammad Asif, Director, Veterinary Academy.<\/p>\n
During the ceremony, the speakers highlighted the significance of NAHE\u2019s initiatives in enhancing the quality of teaching, research, and academic leadership. They emphasized the vital role of professional development in preparing educators to meet the evolving challenges of higher education and foster student success. NAHE is already executing various programs for Faculty Development.<\/p>\n
Faculty development is essential for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in higher education settings. By improving the capabilities and effectiveness of university faculty, institutions can better contribute to multiple SDGs. Faculty development aligns with and supports various SDGs including SDG-4 (Quality Education), SDG-5 (Gender Equality), SDG-8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG-10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG-13 (Climate Action) and SDG-16 (Peace, Justice and strong Institutions)<\/p>\n
By investing in faculty development, educational institutions can significantly advance the SDGs, ensuring quality education for all and fostering innovation, and promotes sustainable development across various sectors.<\/p>\n
The program concluded with the distribution of certificates by the honorable Vice Chancellor, recognizing the participants’ commitment to self-improvement and academic excellence. This cohort of 32 participants underwent a rigorous curriculum encompassing effective teaching methodologies, research grant writing, and professional ethics.<\/p>\n
